Garg, who sang several popular tracks in Assamese, Hindi and other languages, visited Singapore to attend the three -day North East Festival, which was scheduled to begin on Friday.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the death of Zubine Garg. During the scuba diving, he experienced difficulties in breathing and was immediately given a CPR before being taken to the General Hospital in Singapore. Despite the efforts to save him, he was declared dead around the IST at 2.30 pm,” North East Fast Fasts said in a statement.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on the death of the singer, saying that the state has “lost one of his favorite sons”.

Garg has survived by his wife.
