A redit user from Gujarat has shared a moving experience about an auto ride late at night. Returning from the last 11 work, he spoke to an elderly auto driver who was tired but kept driving.
When asked why he worked so late, the driver laughed bitterly and told that he had two daughters. One coaching fees were needed, and the other’s school expenses had to be paid.
He said that he usually earns 700-800 in a day. Half of this goes into fuel and rent. To ensure that their daughters continue to be education, they drive longer, sometimes 14–16 hours in a stretch. The Redter felt poor.

During the ride, the driver said something that lived with the Redit user: “A poor man ever dreams for himself, only for his children. For me, I just pray that tomorrow I still have the power to drive.”
By the time he reached home, the user was deeply touched. He offered additional money, which the driver first refused. But, then, he accepted with folded hands and wished him strength.

“I went up, sat on my bed, and just kept thinking. Every day we complain about traffic, boss, deadline, zamato delivery. Late. Late. And at the same time, there are thousands of people around us who are really breaking their bodies, so that their children are not finished like them,” the user wrote.
He realized his biggest privilege, and it was not money.
He said, “Perhaps we do not have the biggest privilege money or English speaking jobs. This is the fact that we are allowed to dream for ourselves,” he said.
Call for system change
The reactions to the Reddit Post were intense and emotional. Many of them demanded a change in the system.
“In a sensible country, education will be free until a graduate. Nothing does not benefit the country more than an educated population. If you Google in the list of countries that you do, you will see that they are rich and have low levels of corruption,” a user wrote.

A different perspective
However, some other users painted a different picture.
A user argued that people should not bring children into the world unless they can guarantee them food, education and comfortable life.
“Children do not only need a loving family. They also require good food, clothes, good education and a family that can be for them.
Another commentator, with the background of a lower middle class, agreed.
“I did not like constant financial conflict, staying in the broken smelly dirty house, consuming local brands …. Inappropriate of life … if I had the option to return on time … then I would not have chosen to lead this life,” the user wrote.
