AT&T is scheduled to pay its consumers in 2026 as part of a class action settlement following the data breach last year. Details of the lawsuit were revealed in August, in which the telecom giant agreed to pay a total of $177 million to affected users. According to reports, some people may get up to $7,500.
Here’s what you need to know about the lawsuit, how much you’ll receive, when to expect them, and whether you’re eligible to receive money from the settlement.
What was the AT&T data breach?
AT&T was accused of two major data breach incidents last year that led to the lawsuit, with the company agreeing to pay its affected users.
The Kroll Settlement Administration said the first breach occurred on March 30, 2024, and that some customers’ data – including addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, passcodes, billing numbers and phone numbers – were released onto the dark web.
Limited data was illegally downloaded on July 12, 2024, which included customers and other users associated with the accounts and numbers they interacted with.
Are You Eligible for the AT&T Settlement?
Customers affected by both data breaches are eligible to file a claim in the settlement:
- The AT&T 1 settlement class had data from the breach announced in March 2024. According to the settlement site, their data may include any combination of “names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, account passcodes, billing account numbers, and Social Security numbers.”
- AT&T 2 Settlement Class: Applies to customers affected by the breach through July 2024. The data may include telephone numbers, call records, interaction counts, and for a small group, cell site identification numbers.
In both incidents someone may have the data.
AT&T Data Breach Claim: How to Check If You’re Eligible?
You can check whether you are eligible for a claim by checking the Kroll Settlement Administration’s website. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- The details will reveal your eligibility, and you will then need to provide additional documents to submit the claim.

The deadline to file a claim in the AT&T settlement is Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The claim can either be filed online, sent by post and received by the due date or postmarked.
