The National Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has now expanded the list of exam cities for international students by adding 14 foreign cities in 12 countries. NTA on Wednesday, February 21, announced the list of 14 foreign centers that will host the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) medical examination in 2024.
“In pursuance of the public notice dated February 9, 2024, it has been decided that the examination will be conducted in foreign cities,” the notice said.

The NTA notice said that students who have already paid the fees and have chosen the center in India without the option of foreign centers will now be able to change their exam city and country when the correction window opens. However, candidates wishing to take their medical examination abroad will have to pay a separate amount.

Students applying fresh for the exam can directly select their preferred country and city from the drop-down menu during the registration process which ends on March 9.
NEET is the only entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses in India, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education of India. NTA’s recent move to add overseas centers comes after overseas students raised concerns over the agency’s earlier decision of not having overseas centers for the 2024 NEET exam.

Dr. Thakur S Moolchandani, school director and principal of Sunrise English Private School in Abu Dhabi, said, “The common problems were for parents who have ongoing schooling commitments with other children, concerned about the welfare of their other children. We have to manage the travel arrangements while ensuring the same.” The financial burden of travel expenses and accommodation has also added to the stress for families, Gulf News reports.

Pramod Mahajan, Director and Principal, Sharjah Indian School, said, “We had raised their concerns by making a representation to the Indian Education Minister through the Indian Association Sharjah.
