Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi on Saturday suspected a conspiracy behind the collapse of bridges in Bihar. The blame game continues over the quality of work.
Former chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Manjhi said it was a matter of concern that bridges were collapsing. He wondered why these incidents were happening now and not a month ago.
Five bridges have collapsed in Bihar in the last few days.
These incidents took place in Araria, Siwan, East Champaran, Kishanganj and Madhubani districts.
Speaking to the media, Manji said, “It is a matter of concern that bridges are collapsing (in Bihar). It seems substandard material must have been used. But why were the bridges not collapsing 15 days or a month ago? Why are they collapsing now?”
Former Bihar Chief Minister Manjhi suspected a conspiracy behind this and said, “All this is being done deliberately to tarnish the image of the government…bridges are breaking continuously. I think this is being done deliberately.”
The Union Minister said that the government is taking strict action against the contractors and engineers of the collapsed bridges.
“The government will ensure that this does not happen again,” Manjhi said.
On Friday, an incident of a bridge pillar getting washed away came to light in Madhubani district. This bridge is being built at a cost of about Rs 1.5 crore Rs 3 crore
A bridge collapsed in Kishanganj district on Thursday.
Opposition leaders have raised questions on the incidents happening in the state.
Taking an indirect dig at the Nitish Kumar government, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Tejashwi Yadav shared the video on the X-File photo.
The RJD leader said, “Another bridge collapsed in Bihar. Did you know? If not, tell us why?”
