Zarina Wahab talked about dating her son Sooz Pancholi with the late actor Jia Khan before he died in 2013. Talking to Naydeep Rakshit, she said that when she had taken her life, Zia was depressed, but it was due to the Telugu film industry faced rejection. He also talked about the call received by Soraj, but could not answer. Zarina was asked about Soraj’s relationship with Jia, and claimed that the two were broken a month before the death. He said, “Many people don’t know this, so I want to clarify it. Friendship or whatever he had … Salman was about to launch him (Sorag), so I asked him to put a stop. He broke him with (Jiah) because his mother was also not happy about it. He could meet him sometime, and he broke as a friend.”
Zarina then claimed that Zia was rejected as she was rejected ‘on the spot’ for the Telugu film. “She was about to try her luck in Telugu films, but she was rejected on the spot. She was about to act with Gopichand; She later took Rakul Preet in that film. She tried to call Soraj, but she was busy and couldn’t return her since that time, she was not already. Well.
Jia Khan’s case
Jia, known for acting in Nishabad and Ghajini, was found dead at her home in Mumbai on 3 June 2013 at the age of 25. Based on a letter seized a week later, the Mumbai Police booked Soraj for suicide, and was arrested. The letter mentioned her upset relationship with Soraj, alleging that she misbehaved with her mentally and physically. In 2023, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court acquitted Soraj in the case. The judge said as Syed of the Special CBI court in Mumbai, “Due to lack of evidence, this court cannot convince you (Sorag Pancholi), so it is acquitted.”
