Lucknow STF exposed a scam of Rs 120 crore by raiding Atraula Toll Plaza in Mirzapur. Irregularities found in tax collection in 200 toll plazas. 4 employees arrested.
A case of giving fake slips to vehicles without Fastag has come to light at Mirzapur Toll Plaza.
New Delhi. As the number of highways and expressways is increasing in India, toll plazas are also increasing along with them. These toll plazas often remain a topic of discussion. Once again new news related to toll plaza has come to light. Lucknow STF recently raided Atraula toll plaza in Mirzapur and exposed major irregularities in toll collection. At present, around 1000 toll plazas are active in the country, out of which a large number are such toll plazas where tax collection is being rigged.
STF of UP Police has found major irregularities in tax collection in 200 toll plazas. UP Police has also arrested 4 employees from Atraula Toll Plaza. According to the police, a scam of Rs 120 crore has been done in the name of toll collection in Mirzapur.
Counterfeit Slip and Software
Fake slips are being given at toll plazas to collect double tax from vehicles without Fastag. Apart from this, wrong software is also being used for tax collection. This software is being used at about 42 toll plazas. Now the police is investigating this matter. Apart from this, rigging regarding manpower has also come to light. Out of the manpower shown on paper for the toll plaza, only 20 to 30 percent is being used at the toll plaza.
Avoid fraud like this
Amidst all this, if you want to avoid fraud, then always keep Fastag on the windshield of your vehicle. In case of not having Fastag, double the tax will be collected from you and the chances of you being fraud will increase. Police found in their investigation that only those vehicles which did not have Fastag were being given fake slips.
