During a doctor’s visit to Mumbai in 2024, Usha Rachel Thomas heard words that would change her life. “You are running and talking, but physically, you should be in ICU.” A senior brand strategist and communication leader, Usha, was used for high stress and high stress. But nothing was prepared for him for the reality that his body was quietly moving towards a diabetes coma.

His body did not give any dramatic indication. Just a growing fatigue, thirst she could not quench, and tiredness that gave her a blanket after every meal. For two months, he rejected the symptoms as stress or heat. But his blood sugar reading told a different story. In an interview for HT Health Shots, the 57-year-old said, “The number on glucometer is more than 500, more than 538 is accurate-what should have been more than five times.”

It was the day when the story of “I am just tired” was uprooted. Eventually, it led a medical turnaround, which developed in a deep personal return to a conscious walk towards self-esteem, self-awareness and self-care for Usha.

Diabetic signs that were easily ignored

Usha says that she felt unusually tired, especially after meals. A huge request will be made to sleep after a quick breakfast. The same thing happened after post-lunch. “I felt that it was just the tireless heat of Mumbai or the stress of our company’s merger,” she says.

Excessive thirst? He convicted it on dehydration. Constant urination? A natural result of drinking more water. But what she failed was that many do – the subtle signs of the body to help. There was no one else to notice the red flag.

“Losing your father a year ago, taking care of my mother’s loneliness and managing her grief, settling my younger son with his wife in Toronto and working from home during our company merger, empty nest syndrome created the right storm of stress and isolation,” she says.

When Usha finally gave her long -time doctor, Dr. When he saw BS Shetty, it did not take long for him to add dots. He suggested a random blood sugar test. And when the result was shown 538, he was told what any patient wants to hear: “You should be in ICU.”

His body was on the verge of a diabetes coma.

“Those words exploded the story made carefully, I had been telling myself for decades. In that sterile examination hall, my illusion of Ajya was broken. I was not just tired. I was not just a thirst. I was seriously ill. I was a type 2 diabetes. And there was no light case!

Looking back, Usha can now recognize the initial warning signs that her body had been sending for years before hitting a crisis point. She says she was ignoring:

  • Micro abnormalities in regular blood functions that were technically “within the border”, but were trending in the respective directions
  • Sudden sprain recovery time increased
  • Constant fatigue despite sufficient rest
  • Anatomy
  • Adaptation that he unknowingly declined his energy. He took a lift instead of stairs. She took a car for short distance, she used to run once.

Tour towards diabetes reversed

Since a week she was on the verge of a diabetes coma, Usha Endocrinologist Dr. Dheeraj was sitting with Kapoor. And without any sugarcane, he said to him: “You should have seen an endocrinologist 11 years ago when weight gain started. The responsibility is yours now. You have to work very hard. But there is good news – your other other vitals are excellent. It means that you can cure.”

At that moment, he felt that he had an option: “I can continue spilling, or I can start treatment.” Usha chose to heal.

To reverse type 2 diabetes in 60 days

Within just two months in the disciplined lifestyle, Usha brought her blood sugar levels into a non-diabetic range. For the last ten months, he has maintained them without aggressive medicine or lack. The question is how?

It was built on three founding columns: medicinal support (initially), mentality change, and methodical lifestyle reconstruction, a former journalist and IIM-e Alumna Usha.

“When I am almost drug-free now, I started with the lowest-khuraq tablet to stabilize my position. This support made a place to change my lifestyle,” she says.

Schedule changes:

  • Fixed food window: No other late dinner or midnight sleep.
  • Dinner 7: 30-8: 00 without exception
  • Sleep from 10:30-11: 00 to support hormonal regulation
  • Dawn routine

Deliberate increase in movement

  • 10 minutes walk soon after every meal
  • Simple only pushups while brushing teeth or waiting for water to boil
  • Daily Yoga and Dance Session Saurabh Bothra and Trishala Bothra, Energy and Anand restoring with trainers
  • A minimum of 45 minutes dedicated walk every day

Dietary change

The big change was not what he ate, but how.

  • Vegetables first, then everything. “This simple sequence change dramatically affects my glucose response. I just flipped the plate, not food,” she says.
  • Slow to slow down delicious food, taste, texture and signs of satisfaction. I still eat chocolate and fruit. I just balance with exercise and accountability.
  • Strategic enjoyment: “This was a yes for chocolate, yes to mangoes, but with accurate awareness about time and quantity.”
  • Consistency on intensity: “I never deprived myself, only priorities.”

Positive signs of diabetes inverter

Usha noticed that with these basic lifestyle changes for diabetes management, her blood sugar level fell from 538 to 180 within 2 weeks, then 112, then 98. “In 2 months, I reversed type 2 diabetes.

She says that when the figures look great, they fail to catch the mental clarity returning after a long night after a long night, renewed energy, or even how she belongs to herself.

A mother of two elder sons shares, “I ended the 36-year-old unconscious self-loving and rebuilt my relationship with my body.

To be specific, she says that preventive care became one later and she only sought medical attention when something was clearly wrong. He continuously dismissed his 30-cilogram weight gain as unavoidable in view of stress and menopause. Late night dinner and inconsistent sleep patterns became common in the 24×7 media and entertainment industry, in which they worked. There was no consciousness about processed foods, restaurants food, late night part control in their food habits. The physical movement had almost disappeared from his life as he spent 14–16 hours on daily screen, and ensured the deadline of all work. Amidst all this, he just stopped listening to his body signs.

Final Reparative: “Don’t wait for you a crisis to hit you”

Usha claims that while Type 2 diabetes has been normalized as an indispensable result of aging or genetics, its experience suggests that the individual agency plays a much more role than people, leading to believing.

“My purpose of sharing individual journey from this depth is to highlight the possibilities for others. You may be the place where I was – functional but unsuccessful, productive but disastrous.
