New Delhi. People often use AC while driving a car. Many people sit in the car for hours with the AC on to avoid the heat. But this habit is also becoming the cause of people’s death. Yes… you heard it right. The car’s AC is taking people’s lives and has become a silent killer in a way. Not just one or two but many such cases have come to light.
Recently, the bodies of a man and a woman were found inside a Wagon R on Nagal Wali Road in Dehradun. Police investigation revealed that both of them were drunk and were sleeping inside the car with the AC on. The ignition of the car was on at the time of the incident. The cause of death of both was said to be AC gas and temperature.
Many cases have come to light earlier also
A similar case was reported in Ghaziabad in June this year. A 36-year-old cab driver was found dead in his WagonR car near a traffic signal in Prahlad Garhi. Police said that the cab driver, a resident of Sahibabad, died of suffocation. He fell asleep in his car with the AC on while in an inebriated state. Due to the AC being on all night, the cabin got filled with gas, which caused the cab driver’s death due to suffocation.
Let us tell you that a similar incident happened in Noida in the year 2020. During that time also a 30-year-old man in a drunken state parked his car in the basement parking and slept with the AC on. In this case too, the police had said that the cause of death was the gas and temperature inside the car. Apart from this, a similar incident came to light in Chennai as well.
Be careful if you sleep with the AC on
Many people sleep with the AC on in the car. While running the AC, the window remains closed due to which the car starts filling with gas. But the big question is how does this gas enter the cabin. Actually, to run the AC, the car engine has to be kept on. A poisonous gas like carbon monoxide comes out from the car engine along with smoke. This gas comes out in very small quantity but slowly goes inside the cabin through the empty space of the car. Since the windows are closed, this gas remains inside. Let us tell you that carbon monoxide is a very poisonous gas. It reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood very much, due to which the person dies by suffocation.
How to protect yourself?
First of all, keep in mind that sleeping in a car is not safe in any way. Especially, one should not sit inside the car for a long time. If you are forced to sleep inside the car, do not keep the windows completely closed. This will allow fresh air to enter the car. If you are in a state of intoxication, never drive. It has been seen that people have died in a state of intoxication.
