The road is closed in winter. Because of this, people have to spend huge fares on flights. But soon people will be able to travel by road throughout the year, they will not be forced to travel by flight. Border Road Organization (BRO) is building the world’s highest tunnel here, after which it will have all-weather connectivity. That is, whatever you feel like, pick up the car and go to Leh-Ladakh.
At present there are two roads in Leh but both are not all-weather. When there is snowfall in winter, both these roads get closed and the connectivity of Leh-Ladakh with the entire country gets cut off by road. Air route is the only way to reach here. But now this problem is not going to last long.
BRO has constructed the road like this.
BRO is going to build the world’s highest Shinkula Tunnel here. LAO (Letter of Acceptance) has been issued for this. This means that all types of clearances including forest have been given to the construction company and now the construction work can be started.
According to BAO, there is only one Shinkula pass on the Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road, which will become an all-weather road after the construction of the tunnel. 298 km to connect Leh. The road has been built in April this year. Out of this, 170 km. But bitumen has been applied on the road. As soon as the tunnel is built, Leh will be connected to the entire country by road throughout the year.
This will be beneficial
Shikunla Tunnel 4.1 km. It will be long, which will be important from strategic point of view. This will make it easier for the Indian Army to reach the China border. With this, 36 villages of Zanskar and 137 villages of Lahaul will be connected by road, while movement of common people and tourist vehicles along with the army will be possible for 12 months between Manali-Kargil and Manali-Leh road. The distance between Manali-Leh and Manali-Kargil will be reduced by about 100 kilometers.
BRO will make world record
BRO will create a world record with the construction of Shinkula Tunnel. At present the highest tunnel is in China at 15500 feet. Shinkula Tunnel will be at an altitude of 15855 feet, which will connect Lahaul Valley, Himachal Pradesh and Zanskar Valley, Ladakh.
