Fruits with high antioxidant properties and low phosphorus and sodium should be preferred for kidney health. A high-salt diet can also increase the amount of calcium in the urine, which can lead to kidney stones. While healthy kidneys remove excess phosphorus from the blood, when it remains in your blood, it can increase your risk of heart disease, weak bones, joint pain, and even death.

Not all fruits are good for people with chronic kidney disease. High potassium foods like apricots, bananas, melon and dates should be avoided. Many dried fruits are also high in potassium and carbohydrates, which can increase blood sugar levels.

Berries, cherries, grapes, plums, apples, cauliflower, onions, eggplants, turnips, lean meats (poultry, fish), eggs, unsalted seafood are among the foods that are good for people with kidney disease.

It is high in potassium and low in phosphorus and sodium, so it is ideal for kidney health. It has astringent bitter cleansing properties that are good for the tissues.

2. Berries

Berries are also excellent for kidney health, as they are low in sodium and phosphorus. They have astringent properties that help tighten tissues and reduce water retention. Strawberries, blackberries, acai berries are a rich source of vitamin C, manganese, folate, potassium and antioxidants. Since they are low in calories and rich in fiber, you can consume a small bowl of them every day. Be sure to eat them when they are seasonal.

3. Apple

Apples are also low in potassium and phosphorus which makes it healthy and safe for kidney health. If you have symptoms of constipation then you can also eat raw apple or boiled apple. It is also a good source of Vitamin C and fiber.

Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons and grapefruits are a great addition to your diet to improve kidney health. They are a rich source of vitamin C, which helps prevent the formation of kidney stones. In many homes, there is a practice of drinking a squeeze of lemon in warm water on an empty stomach to cleanse the toxins and undigested waste from the digestive system and urinary tract.

5. Avocado

Although the National Kidney Foundation recommends avocado, this fruit is high in potassium. If you have any kidney health problems, it is advisable to talk to your doctor before consuming this fruit. If you don’t have any specific kidney disease, eat avocado in moderation for its healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidant content.
