New Delhi: There is a war going on between Russia and Ukraine for 2 years. Now the discussion has intensified as to when will both the countries leave the path of war and walk on the path of peace. A big signal related to the peace agreement has been given by Russian President Vladimir Putin himself. Putin said on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on Saturday that Saudi Arabia would be the “right” place for further talks to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Responding to a question, President Putin acknowledged his close personal ties with the Saudi royal family and said that the main obstacle to the peace process is Ukraine’s attitude towards talks with Russia to end the conflict that began in February 2022. A decree has been issued against doing so.

Russian President Putin further said, ‘We consider Saudi Arabia a friendly country. I have very good relations with the King, and generally friendly relations personally and with the Crown Prince. And I know, I’m just sure that whatever Saudi Arabia does in this region, it does it with sincerity, I have no doubt about that. And so, if such events are organized in Saudi Arabia, then definitely, the venue is quite comfortable for us.
Let us tell you that Saudi Arabia has been engaged to find solutions on both Israel-Palestine and Russia-Ukraine fronts and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led the Saudi delegation at the first EU-GCC summit held in Brussels on 16 October. President Putin reminded that negotiations were held between Russian and Ukrainian teams with the help of Türkiye, which have prepared a draft.

President Putin acknowledged the support of BRICS member states for ending the conflict and said that Russia is examining the ongoing dialogue efforts “very carefully.” The conflict in Ukraine began with Russian missiles falling on Ukraine on 24 February 2022, and since then several countries have attempted to establish peace.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed support for peace on several occasions since the conflict began. Earlier this year he had talked to the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. After this, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Kumar Doval visited Moscow in September. However, President Putin argued that the main obstacle to peace has been Ukraine’s reluctance to negotiate with Russia.
