Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday thanked the people of Wayanad for giving her victory in the Lok Sabha by-elections and said she will never disappoint the people of the constituency.
“First and foremost, I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for having me here today and making me your Member of Parliament. I am so grateful to each and every one of you for all that you are doing. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you. As your representative in the Parliament, I will work tirelessly to solve your problems. Your beliefs for the day, now and forever, Will maintain the values, hopes and aspirations,” Priyanka Gandhi said while addressing a gathering in Wayanad.
The Congress leader also thanked his brother Rahul Gandhi for the work he has done for the people of Wayanad in the last five years.
“I want to thank my brother for all the work he has done here over the last five years. It is because of your trust in him that you have trusted me. I want to thank all the leaders… I would like to thank each I thank you all for the love you have given me, Priyanka said.
On 28 November, the Congress General Secretary took oath as an MP in the Lok Sabha, holding a copy of the Constitution in his hand.
The Wayanad seat had fallen vacant after the demise of Rahul Gandhi, who earlier represented Wayanad but shifted to Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected to the Lok Sabha from there during this year’s general elections.
“I am here to learn from you. I am here to understand your problems deeply. Of course, I know about night restrictions, man-animal conflict, the need for health services, the need for better educational institutions. But I Now to fight for all this, to work with you and understand them properly, I will come to your house, meet you, the doors of my office are open… I will not let you down,” she also said.
Priyanka Gandhi accused BJP of not following democratic norms
Priyanka, who is on a two-day visit to Kerala after her maiden election victory, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of not following normal democratic norms.
Comparing the BJP’s behavior to a landslide, he said, “The political challenges we are facing today (from the BJP) are like a landslide. There are no rules. There are no explanations.”
“The behavior of the ruling party (at the Centre) BJP knows no democratic norms, not even the norms we generally follow in political battles,” he said.
