After four Shankaracharyas (religious heads) refused to attend the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Congress hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), commenting ‘why are they in a hurry to inaugurate an under-construction building’ .
The Shankaracharyas cited that the event was not being held following the classical guidelines for ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.
Congress leader Alka Lamba took a jibe at the BJP and said, “Ask them (BJP) why Shankaracharya is not going (to attend the consecration ceremony). He said that the construction of Ram temple is incomplete, so why are BJP and PM in a hurry? Inaugurating a temple under construction and politicizing it; This is obvious as elections are approaching.
On a similar note, Karnataka Congress leader Priyank Kharge questioned, “Four Shankaracharyas and saints are saying that the Ram temple is incomplete. Why is the BJP demanding answers from the Congress, but not listening to what the Shankaracharyas are saying?” ?”
Why is Shankaracharya refusing to attend the function?
Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, head of Jyotir Math in Uttarakhand, said the four prominent Shankaracharyas will not attend the event as the consecration ceremony will take place without completing the construction of the temple.
“Not because of any hatred or malice, but because it is the duty of the Shankaracharyas to follow the Shastra-Vidhi (rituals of the scriptures) and ensure that they are followed. And here the scriptures are being ignored. The biggest problem is that the pran pratistha (consecration) is being done when the temple is still incomplete,” he said. impression
At the same time, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand of Jyotish Peeth Math emphasized that ‘the construction of the temple is not a symbol of the victory of Sanatan Dharma.’
“There was already a Ram temple in Ayodhya, and its construction is not a gift or victory for religion. The political leaders not going to Ayodhya on January 22 may be due to their political constraints, but no such constraints oblige me When cow slaughter ends in the country, I will visit Ram Temple in Ayodhya while celebrating with enthusiasm. Since the judgment of the Honorable Court, the land belongs to Hindus, and its use or misuse depends on their discretion. Is.”
Meanwhile, Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati of Puri Govardhan Peeth expressed concern about maintaining the respect of Lord Ram and stressed that the worship should be in line with traditional practices.
“This should be done as per the scriptural guidelines, and the puja should be done in accordance with the belief that Ram is not secular. As per the scriptures, Pran Pratishtha and puja programs should be conducted; otherwise, the brightness of the deities is diminished, and Demonic institutions should enter and create havoc” said Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati.
On January 22, idols of Lord Ram will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP leaders, actors, sports stars, celebrities and thousands of saints are expected to attend the event in Ayodhya.
