The weather in Saudi Arabia, known for its extremely hot heat and desert areas, has surprised people. Sudden snowfall, heavy rain and huge drop in temperature have been recorded in many parts of the country. This unusual cold has created curiosity among people.

Snowfall was seen on the mountains in Tabuk province of northern Saudi Arabia, which changed the picture of the entire area. Trozena, a high-altitude tourist destination located on Jebel Al-Lawz, which is about 2,600 meters high, was covered with a white blanket of snow. Snowfall along with light rain has been reported here.

Apart from this, snowfall was also recorded in many parts of Hail region, especially around Hail city, which is considered very rare in the Middle-Eastern country. In the morning, the temperature in some areas dropped below zero degrees Celsius, causing freezing conditions in the higher altitude areas.

According to Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Metrology (NCM), snowfall was also seen in Al-Majmaah and Al-Ghat areas, north of Riyadh, where snow accumulated in open plains and high altitude areas.

Hussein Al-Qahtani, the official spokesperson of NCM, said that this weather change is the result of the interaction of cold air entering central and northern Saudi Arabia and clouds that bring rain. He said that the temperature may remain low in the coming days also, especially in the northern and central regions. The administration has appealed to people to be cautious, drive slowly and stay away from waterlogged areas.

Pictures and videos of snow on the mountains of Saudi Arabia are becoming increasingly viral on social media. Crowds of people gathered in Al-Majmaah and Al-Ghat to see the snow. In view of the bad weather, as a precautionary measure, schools in the capital Riyadh have been switched to online mode.

Weather experts may be calling it the result of special atmospheric conditions, but increasing incidents of this kind have raised new concerns about climate change. In recent months, weather patterns have changed unexpectedly in many parts of the world.

Incidents like winter rains in the United Arab Emirates, record-breaking heat in South Asia, flash floods in dry areas of the Middle East and unusual snowfall in Europe and North Africa are indicating that global weather patterns are changing rapidly due to climate change.
