New Delhi. You must have often heard that trucks in foreign countries are equipped with many facilities. Many such videos keep going viral in which truck drivers are seen driving trucks equipped with AC, TV and refrigerator. It is also true that in western countries, truck drivers are given much better facilities than the truck drivers of India, whereas the condition of truck drivers in India is not that good. In India, essential features like AC are not available in trucks. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had also expressed concern on this important issue.
But have you ever wondered why companies do not make trucks with AC in a hot country like India and why AC is considered a luxury feature even in today’s time? Actually there are two big reasons behind companies doing this, let’s know.
Oil consumption will increase due to AC
The cost of diesel in transportation determines the prices of goods. Transport companies often try to reduce the cost of diesel so that more savings can be made. If AC is run in the truck, then the cost of oil will increase by 3-4%.
60% of the cost of running a truck is fuel cost. In such a situation, if the driver uses AC during long distance journeys, diesel consumption will increase and the cost of transport companies will increase. Some truck models with AC are also available in the market but their sale is very low.
The price of AC truck is higher
The price of a truck with air conditioning (AC) feature is also higher than a normal truck. This is also one of the reasons for low sales of AC trucks. If the trucks are not sold, the dealer stock starts increasing and companies suffer losses. Due to lack of demand in the market, companies launch only a few AC truck models.
