From a heart attack on the treadmill to a sudden fall in the gym, crisis headlines are becoming very common, especially in those 30 and 40s. But experts now say that the real danger cannot be a workout itself, it is what is happening inside your body, before you make those running shoes lace.

Recently in an Instagram post, famous cardiologist and functional medicine expert Dr. Alok Chopra explained why people seem to be experiencing heart issues during exercise.

“It’s not treadmill, it is your metabolism”

Dr. According to Chopra, it is time to prevent cardio machines from blaming. True criminal? Metabolic dysfunction- a silent but serious condition that is created over time, often without symptoms.

He preferred awareness about young adults, not to fear workouts, but about early screening and risky factors, which often go to anyone’s attention.

Is the young heart risking hearts?

Dr. Chopra highlighted six major underlying factors that can quietly compromise heart health and be fatal during physical stress:

  • Poor metabolism
  • Mute insulin resistance
  • Chronic inflammation
  • High stress level
  • Inadequate sleep and recovery
  • Nutritional diet

He explained that a workout may not be the cause of a heart episode, but the damage is seen at that moment. “If your body is already a tick time bomb, a sudden workout can just lighten the fuse,” he warned.

What can you do?

Prevention begins with awareness. With basic trials such as ECG, doctors recommend undergoing TMT (treadmill test) and echocardiography (ECHO), to assess how your heart responds to physical stress and detects any underlying issues.

Cardiologist Dr. Naveen Bhamari also emphasized the importance of initial testing in a separate post, saying that even those who feel healthy may have hidden weaknesses.

Great if you are in your 30s or 40s and killing the gym regularly. But do not ignore fatigue, sleep issues, unexplained weight gain, or stress. These can be a sign of deep metabolic problems.

As Dr. Chopra says, “The treadmill is not an enemy. The enemy is the one you are ignoring.”
