The plant will be built by 2036
Russia’s state-owned nuclear corporation Rosatom is leading this project. This nuclear power plant to be built on the moon will produce half a megawatt of electricity, which will be sent to the base built on the moon. According to Russia’s state news agency TASS, Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev said that China and Russia have shown great interest in this project along with the international community. At the same time, Russia’s space agency Roscosmos has announced that work is underway to build a nuclear power plant on the moon. It will be installed on the moon by 2036. Moscow said that the plant will probably be built autonomously – without the direct participation of humans. It is known that in 2021 Russia and China jointly announced the construction of an international lunar research station.

India will build a space station!

Due to the limitations of NASA and solar energy, the idea of ​​using nuclear reactors to power bases on the moon is commendable. NASA says, “Although solar power systems have limitations on the Moon, nuclear reactors can be placed in permanently shadowed areas (where there may be water or ice) or continuously generate power during lunar nights. A continuous supply of solar energy on the Moon is impossible.”

The Times of India quoted experts as saying that India is playing its diplomatic cards carefully. India sent Shubhnshu Shukla of the Gaganyaan mission to NASA’s Houston facility. Shubhnshu Shukla will head to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission – a collaboration between ISRO and NASA. India became the fifth country to make a successful robotic landing on the moon with its Chandrayaan-3 mission in 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then urged ISRO to pursue new and ambitious goals, including sending astronauts to the moon by 2040.
