Suhas Shetty, the prime accused in the high-profile Fazil murder case, was under stress of Mangaluru in Karnataka, cruelly killed by a group of unknown assailants on Thursday night.
Police have implemented prohibitive orders across the city till 6 May after the bandh called by Hindu organizations to protest against Suhas Shetty’s murder.
Who was Suhas Shetty?
Suhas Shetty was a member of a former Bajrang Dal, and also had a criminal record. Shetty was 42 years old, and there were five criminal cases, which was registered against one, which was one in Dargina Kannada district and four in Mangaluru city.

Suhas Shetty was nominated in 2022 as one of the accused in the murder of 23 -year -old Mohammad Fazil, who was a resident of Mangalapette in Katipalla
On July 26, 2022, Fazil was killed in the vengeance of the murder of BJP’s youth wing worker Pravin Netteru. His murder had created widespread unrest and tension in the coastal region, causing tension and reactions from various sections of the society.
How was Suhas Shetty murdered?
According to police, Suhas Shetty was murdered on Thursday, 1 May at around 8:27 pm, while he was traveling in a car along with five others. His vehicle was reportedly stopped by two cars, out of which five to six attackers were revealed. Mangaluru on high alert
In view of Suhas Shetty’s assassination, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Aggarwal has implemented prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Judicial Code of India (BNSS). The ban came into effect on May 2 at 6 am and will remain till 5 am on 6 May.
To maintain law and order, the police have also set up checkposts across the city and have patrolled. A case has been filed at Bajpe police station, and many teams are working to identify and arrest the attackers, News minutes.
Orders ban the distribution of public functions, processions, slogans and inflammatory posters or social media content. Loudspeakers, concerts and speeches that could incite unrest, have also been strictly banned during this period.
What did Karnataka CM say?
Asked if Suhas Shetty’s murder was prepared, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah told PTI: “Is it prefurestily or not yet not known. Once the investigation is completed, it will be known. The BJP is always looking for such incidents to play politics on it.”
