Modi 3.0 Cabinet: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur has won the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat for the fifth consecutive time in 2024. In the Modi 2.0 cabinet, Thakur held the dual charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. However, he was removed in the Modi 3.0 cabinet.

Who replaced Anurag Thakur in Modi 3.0 cabinet?
Anurag Thakur held the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Modi 2.0 cabinet. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, who held the Health Ministry in the previous BJP-led NDA government, will be the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet 3.0.
Anurag Thakur’s second department was the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Ashwini Vaishnaw got a new responsibility as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the third term of the Modi government, besides retaining his previous portfolios of Minister of Railways as well as Electronics and Information Technology.
How did Anurag Thakur react to his removal?
Anurag Thakur, five-time Lok Sabha MP from Harimpur, in his first reaction after not getting a place in the cabinet said, “I wish and congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term and extend my heartiest wishes to all his ministers and hope they will do a wonderful job and take the country forward in the next 5 years.”
Modi 3.0 Cabinet: Who got what?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured continuity in his new government by appointing Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar to head the ministries of home, defence, finance and external affairs respectively. These four ministers also form the important Cabinet Committee on Security, which works under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Apart from continuity, the Union Cabinet welcomed new faces, with former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan getting the agriculture and rural development portfolios. Meanwhile, BJP president JP Nadda returned to the health ministry, a role he held during Modi’s first term before assuming leadership positions within the BJP.
Of the five members of BJP allies in the Union Cabinet, HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal (Secular) has got the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Steel, Jitan Ram Manjhi of HAM (Secular) has got the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Lallan Singh of Janata Dal (United) has got the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
