Meet Raj Nidimoru of Raj and DK
Raj was born on 4 August 1975 in a Telugu family in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Raj and DK film production duo, Krishna Dasarakathapalli, were born in Chittoor, AP. They met while studying at the SVU College of Engineering and after graduation, they moved to the United States to pursue careers in software engineering. But he soon returned to India for film production.
Transition to film production
Raj and DK started their career in 2002 with the short film Shaadi.com and in 2003 made a feature film in English called Flavors about Indian immigrants. His first Hindi feature film, 99 in 2009, was a comedy crime thriller based in Mumbai and Delhi. Films like Shor in the City (2011) and Go Goa Gone (2013) cemented his place in the film industry. After creating and producing Stree (2018), the foundation of the Maddock horror comedy universe, he hasn’t looked back.
Step into web series
When Raj and DK made their web series debut with The Family Man in 2019, it shocked the world and took notice. Since then, they have been behind shows like Farze (2023), Guns & Roses (2023), and Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024). They are now working on a Netflix web series titled Rakt Brahmanda: The Bloody Kingdom.
Raj and Samantha’s first marriage
In 2015, Raj married film producer and writer Shyamali Dey and have always maintained a low profile about their relationship. In 2017, Samantha married Naga Chaitanya in a highly publicized wedding in Goa, where they exchanged vows as per both Christian and Hindu customs. It is believed that Raj and Samantha met when Samantha played the role of Raji in the second season of The Family Man (2021).
