An veteran politician and former Union Minister, Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju officially received the office of the Governor of Goa on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
He made PS Sreedharan Pillai a success in this role. The swearing -in ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan, which included the Chief Minister of the state, Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries.
74 -year -old Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju said that he would follow the Constitution of India while serving the people. “We all work as a team, and I am very happy that I am associated with Goans,” he said.
Referring to his political career, Gajpati Raju said that he had a short term in Parliament. The governor said, “I have been out as a minister in the government and also sitting in the opposition. I have a widespread experience.”
Gajpati Raju’s background, family and education
74 -year -old Pasupati Ashok Gajapati Raju, Vijianagaram Maharaja Pasupati Vijayarama is from the Pasupati royal family of Gajapati Raju, who is also an MP.
Pasupati Ashok Gajpati Raju has served as a former Union Minister for Civil Aviation from May 2014 to March 2018. He started his political career in 1978, winning the Vijiangaram Legislative Assembly constituency as a Janata Party candidate.
He was also a cabinet minister, commercial tax in the Government of Andhra Pradesh from 1983 – 1985. Raju contested from Vijianagaram Lok Sabha seat for the first time in 2014 and won.
Raju later joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), who became an important person in the party. He recently resigned from the party to handle the governor’s position.
Political charity work
Raju has played an important role in the establishment of various government and non-government educational institutions, especially as the Chairman of the Manas Trust.
He is also interested in public health, water and electricity conservation. According to the official website of Manas, he launched plans for housing, drinking water and health.
