Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray challenged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar to a public debate with him on the question: “Which faction is the real Shiv Sena?”. Thackeray’s comments came after Narvekar had last week declared that the Shinde-led faction was the “real Shiv Sena” when the split happened in 2022.
On Tuesday, Thackeray said, “We have moved the Supreme Court against the decision given by those deceitful people. I challenge Rahul Narvekar and (Eknath) Shinde to come before the people and answer the question that Shiv Sena Whose is it?

On January 10, Narvekar, in a long-awaited judgment, said that the Shinde faction is the real army, while rejecting the disqualification petitions filed by both the Shinde and Thackeray factions against each other’s MLAs following the split in the party in June 2022. .
Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction moved the Supreme Court on Monday against the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s order rejecting the petition seeking disqualification of Shinde’s group MLAs.
“I am taking this fight to the people’s court,” he told PTI at a press conference in Mumbai.
Earlier, Eknath Shinde’s faction had moved the Bombay High Court against the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s decision not to disqualify members of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction.
Speaker Rahul Narvekar amid political turmoil in Maharashtra Said Said on Tuesday that for the last six days, “some political leaders and workers have been misleading people about my decision.” He accused Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders of “using derogatory language” against him. “They don’t even respect the Assembly Speaker. This is really harmful for the democratic structure,” Narvekar said.
“The Supreme Court never said that the appointment of Bharat Gogavale as whip (of the Shinde faction) was wrong. The Supreme Court said that the Speaker should recognize the real Shiv Sena. Because I got claims from both sides, I wrote to the Supreme Court. Gave my decision accordingly. Give orders,” Narvekar was quoted by ANI as saying.
