According to the new report, all models of the iPhone 18 series can be provided with a 24-megapixel front camera. JP Morgan’s report (which was first noticed by MacRumors) states that this new 24-megapixel camera will provide better detail, excellent low-light performance and sharper portrait shots.
These upgrades can be seen in all the flagship models iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Air 2, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
From ‘Center Stage’ to next generation cameras
Apple introduced the Center Stage camera system in its iPhone 17 series, which comes with a square shaped sensor. Due to this, the view of the front camera became even wider. Although there was talk of a 24-megapixel sensor, that feature did not come in the iPhone 17. Now its arrival in iPhone 18 is considered almost certain.

According to the report, Apple can provide a 24-megapixel under-display camera in its first foldable iPhone. This means that there will be no notch or cut-out on the screen, due to which the display of the phone will look completely smooth.
The old camera will remain in the budget model
However, Apple can continue the same old 12 megapixel front camera in its budget models like iPhone 17e and iPhone 18e. That means the big upgrade will be only for premium models. JP Morgan’s report also states that Apple may change its iPhone launch schedule from 2026.
The launch of high-end models (iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Air 2, foldable iPhone) will take place in the second half of 2026. Whereas the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models may be launched in early 2027. This change can prove to be a big step in Apple’s product strategy.
