Many people understand these two as the same, but there are many important differences between them. Come, let’s know about these two holy places…
Mount Kailash Tibet is located in China and is considered the main place of Lord Shiva. Apart from Hinduism, people of Buddhist, Jain and bone religion also consider it sacred. It is located at an altitude of 6,638 meters and has holy reservoirs like Mansarovar Lake and Rakshasatal near it. According to Hindu beliefs, salvation can be attained only by the philosophy of Mount Kailash. Its orbit, called ‘Kora’, is 52 km long and it takes three days to complete it. This journey is very difficult, as physical and mental preparation is necessary due to height and harsh weather. Indians have to take a visa of China to visit Kailash, which is like a major obstacle in completing this journey. No one can climb this mountain, because it is considered sacred by considering it as the abode of Lord Shiva.
At the same time, Adi Kailash is also called Chhota Kailash. It is located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is at an altitude of 6,310 meters and is also considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Adi Kailash has holy places like Parvati Sarovar and Gauri Kund. Its journey is easier and more accessible than Mount Kailash, as it is in India and it does not require foreign visas. The journey to Adi Kailash starts from Dharchula and it also has a trekking, road trip and helicopter facility at some places. This journey is especially done between May to October, when the weather is favorable. Adi Kailash is considered very sacred by the people of Rang community and they believe that it was the ancient residence of Lord Shiva.

Religious beliefs of both places are also different. Mount Kailash is considered to be the center of the world, while Adi Kailash is considered one of the Panch Kailash. Om Parvat is also seen in the journey of Adi Kailash, where snow makes a sign of Om naturally. The journey to Mount Kailash is more complex and long, while the journey of Adi Kailash is short and quiet. Thus, both mountains are famous for their unique characteristics and spiritual importance.
