Israel Police on Tuesday, June 10, released body camera footage of Yamam unit fighters rescuing hostages after 245 days in Gaza.
The rescued hostages include Shlomi Ziv, Andrei Kozlov, and Almog Meir Jan.
Video clips captured by helmet cameras show fighters from the Yamam unit raiding the apartment where the hostages were being held. After exchanging gunfire, the Yamam soldiers ordered the three hostages to identify themselves before finally gaining foothold in the building.

“We have come to rescue you.” Jerusalem Post A Yamam soldier said that Almog Mayer Jan’s tense posture relaxed somewhat after he listened to the policeman. The video ends with the hostages fleeing on foot while Yamam soldiers provide cover fire and neutralize the militants.
Israeli police later released an official statement along with the video, saying, “Yamam and Shin Bet operatives worked together in two locations to rescue four hostages, engaging in fierce gun battles with the terrorists.”

A video later released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) captured the initial moments of the freed hostages boarding a “Ya’sur” helicopter after the rescue operation.

The caption accompanying the video reads, “This is the first moment when Shlomi, Andrey and Almog boarded the “Yasur” helicopter after being rescued from Hamas after being held hostage for 245 days.” Jerusalem Post “You are going to Sheba Medical Center – I think you will be warmly welcomed there,” an IAF soldier said.

YAMAM is a special central unit, also known as the National Counter-Terrorism Unit, one of four special units of the Israeli Border Police.
The Yamam unit’s role and responsibilities include aggressive takeover raids and hostage-rescue operations against terrorist targets in civilian areas. It also performs tactical unit duties and covert police functions and also handles military and counter-terrorism tasks.
