In a remarkable advancement for India’s defense capabilities, Solar Defense and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) has successfully developed and tested ‘Bhargavastra’-a low cost equipped with missiles designed micro rockets and missiles, a low cost, hard-cil counter-drain system. How the Bhargavastra System works
The engineer, the Bhargavastra system employs a two-level approach to detect small unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) at a distance of up to 2.5 kilometers. The first layer includes a 20-meter deadly radius without stopping micro rockets, designed to deal with large-scale drone opportunities. Complementing it is a second layer of accurate-guided micro missiles-first offering surgical accuracy against valid-up-high or elusive air goals through independent tests.
Customized for deployment in various areas, including high altitude areas, which are more than 5,000 meters, both Bhargavastra modular and scalable. The system can be adapted to include an additional soft-cil layer which includes jamming and spuofing techniques. Such an integrated approach provides a comprehensive shield against UAV threats to all branches of India’s armed forces.
SDAL highlighted the indigenous origin of the system, emphasizing that all components – from the detection sensors to the strike system – were developed domestic. The architecture allows the integration of several sensor systems, including radar, electro-optical (EO), and radio frequencies (RF) receiver, which enable leveled air defense cover to suit mission-specific requirements.
The central is its state-of-the-art Command-and-Control Center for the effectiveness of the system, which integrates C4i (command, control, communications, computer and intelligence) technologies. Able EO/IR suits, capable of detecting the dangers of low radar cross-section between 6 and 10 kilometers away, ensure accurate trekking and identification. The system also supports spontaneous integration with the existing network-centered war infrastructure, enhancing real-time operating coordination.
According to its developers, Bhargavastra stands out globally for its cost-efficiency and versatility. While many advanced nations are working on similar micro missile counter-drain technologies, an indigenous, modular system that has a proven herd-fidgeting capacity like Bhargwastra has not yet landed anywhere else.
