In an interview with HT lifestyle, Nitin Jain, the founder, la Pink, unpacked the trend of fragrance stacking and how it is changing the way we wear fragrances, it makes it more adaptation and individual.

He explained, “Fragrance stacking or aroma layering refers to the technique of laying multiple fragrance products to create a Besu fragrance. Instead of wearing a perfume or gauze, you apply different people in a specific order, which begins with the building towards the lightest and the most lightest and deepest aroma. The aroma is to create a fragrant form that is yours.

Nitin Jain shared a detailed breakdown about going about fragrance stacking, covering all the basic things, from the products required to expand on different smell notes:

1. Product is usually used for odor stacking

To stack the Scents effectively, you can use:

  • Body wash or scrubs (aromatic, non-powering)
  • Body lotion or cream (usually hold fragrance well)
  • Body mist or spray (light and mixable)
  • Perfume
  • Hair perfume or light spray (alternative, couple layers)

2. Understanding fragrance note: top, middle, base

Rule: When stacking, you want to construct from light (top) to heavy (base), lying in harmony rather than dominating each note.

  • Top Note: These first you sniff and fade quickly. Think about citrus, green apple, bargamot, peppermint.
  • Middle Note: These once destroy top notes and define the character. For example, roses, jasmine, lavender, cinnamon and peach.
  • Aadhaar Note: They rotate for the longest time and add depth. Think vanilla, sandalwood, pachauli, amber, musk.

3. Dos of fragrance stacking

  • Start micro: Start the contradictions with complementary notes instead of collision. For example, a sour top note adds well with a floral middle and a woody base.
  • In order of order: Always apply light to the heaviest. For example:

I. Citrus body wash (top)

ii. Floral fog (middle)

iii. Vanilla perfume (base)

  • Moisturize first: The fragrance remains on the hydrated skin for a long time. A light fragrant lotion
  • Test on the skin, not paper: Skin chemistry changes how an odor develops. Try on pulse points before being committed to combo.
  • Stick to 2-3 layers: More than this, and it can be heavy or chaotic.
  • Use unsanned base products: If uncertain, use unsanned lotion or wash to prevent clasing.

4. Donts of fragrance stacking

  • Do not mix too much bold scents: Vanilla + Od + Pachhauli + Musk = overload. Instead, choose a “hero” note and build around it.
  • Avoid conflicting notes: Frutti + Goeland + aquatic usually does not mix well. Stick to either hot or fresh families.
  • Do not rub the wrist together: It breaks the top notes and changes how the fragrance wears.
  • Avoid mixing various brands of fragrances: Some brands use strong proprietary base formulas that cannot easily mix with others.

6. Sample smell stack combos
