Vivek Oberoi has had a tumultuous journey in showbiz, but currently, he is in a great phase with some of the biggest projects in his upcoming filmography. While he will next be seen in Masti 4, he is also a part of Nitish Tiwari’s Ramayan starring Ranbir Kapoor, and was recently announced to be joining the Prabhas-starrer Spirit by filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
“I was just having this conversation with my wife. It’s really weird and they say the universe works on vibration and how you feel. When you’re so comfortable with yourself, when you’re not frustrated or anxious, stressed about your career, just floating around, relaxing and watching great movies, getting great offers, listening to a lot of scripts and going at it from a passion perspective rather than a compulsion. Having the luxury of choosing is amazing,” he says.
Talking about Ramayana, he shared, “What Namit (Malhotra, producer) and Nitish are doing is that through Ramayana, they are really taking Indian cinema to the global stage. Ramayana is going to be India’s answer to Hollywood epics. It helps that they are associated with a company that has won about seven to eight Oscars in VFX, and they already have such Have done prestigious work. To really take the epic of Indian origin, it doesn’t get any bigger than the Ramayana and really take it global, that’s what’s exciting.”
Vivek revealed that he has donated his fees from the film to a good cause. “I told Namit I don’t want a single penny for it, I want to donate it to any cause I believe in, which is children with cancer. I told him I want to support you because I love what you are doing and I think it will take Indian cinema with a bang on the global stage,” he said, sharing, “There is always a fight about whether Ramayana is mythological or historical, we believe that. It’s historic, and it was great to work on. I was very happy and it was great.” It was so much fun working with the entire team, Namit, Nitesh, (actor) Yash, Rakul (Preet Singh). I still have a few days of shooting left.”
For his next film Masti 4, Vivek calls it a reunion of friends. “It was like a homecoming, a reunion of classmates. It’s been 21 years since we did our first film and our chemistry, the timing with Riteish (Deshmukh), Aftab (Shivdasani) and Milap (Milan Zaveri), who are directing and writing it, was amazing. It was iconic and a lot of fun,” he concluded.
