Flight Changes: With the onset of winter, the havoc of fog has started appearing at the airport. Due to dense fog on two major airports of the country on Friday morning, nothing could be seen on the runways. As a result, plane movement from both these airports came to a halt for some time. Also, about half a dozen flights heading towards these airports were diverted to other airports. After a long wait, flight movements could start once again from these airports.
In fact, while on Wednesday, due to the havoc of fog, the movement of planes had stopped for some time at Delhi’s IGI Airport, similarly today i.e. on Friday, this scene was seen at Lucknow and Chandigarh airports. Due to dense fog at both the airports, the Runway Visibility Range (RVR) fell below the standard, due to which flights ready for takeoff were held, while flights seeking permission to land were asked to go around.
Five flights diverted to Jaipur
When there was no improvement in AVR even after a long wait, they started diverting flights. Two flights that reached Lucknow from Bengaluru and Hyderabad were diverted to Jaipur airport. The flight leaving from Jaipur to Lucknow was sent back to Jaipur. At the same time, two flights reaching Chandigarh from Bengaluru and Pune were diverted to Jaipur. According to sources, five flights from Lucknow and Chandigarh were diverted to Jaipur airport between 7:20 am and 8:40 am. At present, flight operations from all these airports have become normal.
