On September 23, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Evolve India Buildathon 2025, a nationwide initiative designed to promote innovation, creativity and problem-solving. Among school students.Organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Ministry of Education, the program is being organized in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
It aims to cover over one crore students from 1.5 lakh schools across the country.
During the launch, Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the Buildathon logo and jingle, saying, “This initiative will celebrate student innovations, engineer an innovation renaissance in the country, and ensure that the young generation becomes the key drivers of a prosperous, developed and self-reliant India.”

What are the focus themes of Develop India Buildathon 2025?
Buildathon will revolve around four main themes – Self-reliant India, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local and Prosperous India.
Inspire creative thinking for national development
Encourage self-reliance and sustainable development
Involve schools in contemporary innovation activities
Showcase India as a global innovation hub through potential world record

The registration deadline for Vikas Bharat Buildathon 2025 has been extended till October 11.

Preparation Period: October 6 – October 13, 2025 (Faculty will guide student teams through registration and submission)

Assessment period: November 1 – December 31, 2025 (Projects will be reviewed by a panel of experts)
Results and Honors: January 2026 (Top 1,000 winners to be announced and honored)
Why is this initiative important for students?
Officials said Buildathon is based on the success of School Innovation Marathon 2024, which led to Student Innovator Program (SIP), Student Entrepreneurship Program (SEP), patents and startup ventures from Atal Tinkering Labs.
School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar said, “The event brings together students, teachers and innovators to create solutions for a self-reliant India, in line with the vision of Vikas Bharat 2047.”
The Ministry of Education and Atal Innovation Mission have encouraged all eligible students from classes 6 to 12 to register before the extended deadline and contribute to India’s growing innovation ecosystem.
