Venice, the city known as the Queen of the Adriatic, will announce a limit on the number of people allowed in tour groups to address a worsening over-tourism problem. After approval from the city council, it will come into effect from June 1.
If you’re planning to travel in a large group this summer, no more than 25 people will be allowed on the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello, as well as in the historic center of Venice.
In a statement explaining this, the city’s tourism councilor Simone Venturini detailed how this will help strike a balance between residents and visitors to the city.
“This is a provision that is part of a wider framework of interventions aimed at improving and better managing tourism in Venice, thus benefiting the people living in the city, either as residents or workers, and those who live, Guarantees a great balance between their needs.
