Northern Railway is redeveloping 16 major stations of the zone under Amrit Bharat Station. A budget of Rs 1538 crore has been allocated for the year 2024-25, so that the construction work can be completed and completed on time. According to Northern Railway, the main station building will be designed keeping in mind the cultural and religious importance. That means this station will be designed like a temple.

Inter model station construction also simultaneously
Along with the redevelopment of this station, construction of an inter-modal station will also be done. This work is being done by National Highway Logistics Management Limited. It will happen in two phases. In the first phase, facilities will be developed on about 16 acres. In this, public zone, bus port, helppad, shop, passenger complex, passenger reservation counter, multi-label car parking, taxi stand, commercial complex and four star hotel will be built. The ending point of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway will be here.
Commercial development in second phase
In the second phase, commercial development will be done on 11 acres. FOB, waiting room, concourse, public facilities will be developed. With this step, economic activities will increase here, as well as the social and economic level of the people of Katra and surrounding areas will improve.
