Majumdar said that steps are being taken and will be raised against those who have taken advantage of unfair means.

“In the new Act, we have made some provisions, through which we can punish those who will try to dissolve the system. We are trying to strengthen our system so that no one can dissolve our examination system,” he said, National Testing Agency (NTA) is also using metal detectors for CCTV and discoveries.

The minister said that if the recommendations of the Radhakrishnan Committee are fully implemented, “Then, I think this type of incident will be curbed”.

The NEET (UG) 2024 examination was conducted by the National Test Agency on 5 May 2024.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in a first statement, “After the NEET (UG) 2024 examination, some cases of alleged irregularities/cheating/misconduct were reported.”

The Ministry had told the CBI that the NEET (UG) 2024 examination in connection with the examination, to conduct a comprehensive investigation through the alleged irregularities, including violations of confidence, to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

“On November 21, 2024, the CBI has filed five charge sheets against a total of 45 accused in the case of NEET (UG) paper theft,” Pradhan said.

The names of the candidates, which are beneficiaries of paper theft/inappropriate means and are the names of students of MBBS who solved the stolen paper or who appeared in the examination have already identified and sent to the concerned authorities, as the matter could be for necessary action, he said.

To suggest effective measures for transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations by NTA, the Ministry formed a high-level committee of experts (HLCE) on 22 June 2024, headed by Radhakrishnan, former president ISRO and BOG, IIT Kanpur.

The committee submitted its report on October 21, 2024, and recommended the improvement of the National General Entrance Test, which includes the participation of the NTA, institutional linkage, knowledge and examination partners as examination partners.

The panel appointed measures and recommendations to prevent violations in pen and paper tests (PPT) and computer -based tests (CBT) examinations and recommend standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The committee also recommended the Constitution of a high-power Steering Committee to monitor the implementation of HLCE recommendations on NTA and the same has already been formed.
