UPSC preliminary exam is to be held on June 16.
The Commission allows change of examination center only in special circumstances.
UPSC preliminary exam is scheduled to be held on June 16 this year. According to reports, many candidates are planning to change their centers for the exam. Here’s how you can change the location of your center.
Reportedly, the Union Public Service Commission does not allow changing the location of the examination center unless it is a special circumstance. Last year, during the Manipur violence, many students were allowed to change their centres. This happened after students filed a petition in the High Court, seeking permission to change their UPSC exam centres. Therefore, due to the delicate situation, he was allowed.
Candidates who have applied for UPSC Exam 2024 from Manipur are allowed to choose their center in the given locations. These include Aizawl in Mizoram, Kohima in Nagaland, Shillong in Meghalaya, Dispur and Jorhat in Assam, Kolkata and Delhi in West Bengal. According to further information, the state government will bear all the expenses required for the candidate’s travel. So, those who want to change their examination center for this year’s Civil Services Examination can send their application through e-mail between the dates of 8th to 19th April.
Furthermore, centers can only be changed as long as the application modification window is open. During this period, candidates can make several corrections in their application form. However, after the window is closed, students will not be given another opportunity to make changes in the application.
UPSC exam is conducted in three parts. First there is the preliminary exam, then the candidate has to appear for the main exam and finally, they have to appear for the personality test or interview. The first exam consists of objective type questions, while the second exam consists of essay type questions. Candidates who successfully qualify the main examination are called for interview.
According to reports, the UPSC exam, which was earlier scheduled to be held in May, was extended to June due to the Lok Sabha elections.
