UPSC CSE 2023 results were declared recently.
Male candidates selected for IPS and IFS should have a minimum height of 165 cm, while for female and transgender candidates, the height should be 150 cm.
The result of Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE) was released recently. Through the examination this year, a total of 1,016 candidates were selected for civil services posts like IAS, IPS and IFS. As per the norms of the Commission, selection for these services is based on the rank obtained in the Civil Services Examination. However, for services like IPS and Indian Railway Management Service, it is mandatory to meet the minimum physical qualification.
Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the most prestigious services in the country after IAS. In this, after the selection process, one gets a chance to be recruited as DGP in the state police and agencies like RAW and IB. Let us know about the required height and eye vision criteria mentioned by the Commission which are required for IPS, Indian Railway Protection Force Services (IRPFS), and Indian Railway Management Services (IRMS).
According to UPSC, the minimum height of male candidates selected for IPS and IFS should be 165 cm, while for female and transgender candidates, the height should be 150 cm.
On the other hand, male candidates selected for IRMS posts must have a minimum height of 152 cm, while the height limit for female and transgender candidates is 150 cm.
According to the Commission, candidates belonging to the reserved category of SC, or residents of Gorkha, Assamese, Kumaoni and Nagaland are eligible for significant relaxation. After relaxation, the minimum height limit for male candidates of these mentioned categories will be 160 cm, while for female and transgender candidates, the required height will be 145 cm.
The job profile offered after getting selected in UPSC CSE exam also requires essential criteria of vision. According to the Commission, for IPS, vision of 6/6 or 6/9 is considered eligible for various posts.
