The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to postpone the main examination for 609 Group-A and Group B posts. Initially set for September 28, the exam will now be held after the UPPSC released a revised initial merit list. Justice Ajit Kumar issued this instruction while addressing the petitions challenging the preliminary selection list.
The main issue was that the OBC candidates who had secured higher scores than those in the unreserved category, only assigned to the reserved category, instead of joining the unreserved category. It was argued that reserved category candidates should not be excluded from the unreserved category during the preliminary examination to qualify, which is only a screening test. In addition, it was claimed that UPPSC did not follow the 1:15 ratio to select the candidates for the main examination, Livelaw said.
The court said, “In view of the above, all these petitions are successful and to the extent it is allowed that the defendant Up Public Service Commission will re -press the merit list of the preliminary examination results of the appropriate candidates, which is to qualify and appoint qualification for the next phase of the final examination. The examination will be done on the basis of such revised initial examination results.”
UPPSC has released the exam dates for Assistant Teacher, Trained Graduate Category (Male/Female Branch) Examination 2025.
