A Class 10 student of a private school in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh suffered multiple injuries, including a broken tooth, after he was brutally beaten up by his teacher over his incomplete homework, police said.
According to the report, the teacher beat the boy so badly that he fell unconscious on the floor. After this the teacher fled from the spot.
The students informed the principal, who rushed the injured boy to a hospital.
The police on Wednesday arrested the teacher, identified as Mohammad Asif, who taught science subjects (chemistry and physics).
Salon Station House Officer (SHO) JP Singh said the student was given the homework in April when the school was closed for summer vacation.
When the student reached school on Tuesday, the teacher asked him about this.
Based on the complaint by the student’s father, the police said, “When the boy said he was unable to complete his homework due to some personal issues, the teacher lost his temper and thrashed him with a stick. As a result, he fell unconscious. He suffered serious injuries on his mouth and face.”
SHO said that the school has also started an investigation against the teacher.
The student’s father said his son was brutally beaten up and was taken to hospital on Tuesday, but was discharged a day later.
