Bhopal: Ashapuri Archaeological Site, located at a distance of about 35 kilometers from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, contains the treasure of rich architecture and craftsmanship of ancient India. This place is famous for its historical importance, religious places and natural beauty. Places like Bhootnath Temple, Mahishasur Mata Temple and Ashapuri Museum attract tourists in this area.

Historical importance of Ashapuri
According to Kamal Singh Parmar, who is looking after this site, this area is a group of medieval temples of 10th-11th century. This site was discovered 10 to 12 years ago and the Archeology Department has identified 26 temples here. The reconstruction of one of these temples has been completed, while work on the other is in progress.

1. Bhoothnath Temple: The most famous temple of this place is Bhoothnath Temple. The Archeology Department has made a plan for its reconstruction, which may take 2-3 years to complete.

2. Mahishasur Mata Temple: Mahishasur Mata Temple, also known as Ashadevi Temple, is another major attraction of this area. This temple is famous for its amazing architecture and natural scenery.

3. Museum: The Museum of Archeology Department is also located in this area, in which more than 400 ancient sculptures are displayed. These sculptures reflect the rich art and culture of India.

4. Bilota Dham: A temple named Bilota Dham situated before entering Ashapuri village has religious importance. By offering water here, it is believed that one gets virtue equivalent to Char Dham Yatra. The Shivalinga of this temple is marked with 1008 small Shivalingas.

How to reach Ashapuri?
To reach Ashapuri, one has to go from Bhopal via Narmadapuram Road towards Bhojpur Road. Its distance from Bhopal is about 35 kilometers. Here an entry fee of ₹ 20 per person is charged from Indian tourists. At the same time, the ticket for foreign tourists is ₹ 400 per person. Let us tell you that this ancient Shiva temple of Bhojpur is located at a distance of about 6 kilometers from Ashapuri. The number of tourists coming here is continuously increasing.
