Physicist Sean Kirkpatrick highlights the Pentagon’s efforts to unravel the mystery of what are now called Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Unusual Phenomena (UAPs). Until his departure in December, the former intelligence officer led the Office of All-Domain Anomaly Resolution at the Pentagon. He was tasked by Congress to investigate these incidents.
According to Kirkpatrick, there are two types of people, those who have something to share “legitimately” and those who prefer to go public but not go to authorities with detailed information. He noted that, even though some eyewitnesses came up with one account, it turned out to be something else.
“I had to get a lot of the information that those other people were sharing through second and third parties, because it all comes down to the same group of individuals, you know, retelling this story, and it The story has been going on for decades,” he told Scientific American.
His team examined both recent sightings by military personnel and historical records dating back to 1945. Its purpose was to uncover any hidden government programs related to the UAP. Despite a thorough investigation, including access to classified records, they found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology or spacecraft.
“Whatever people have reported, we went and investigated and found no evidence to support it. Again, a lot of these things are real R&D or real cutting-edge programs, not supernatural, but it’s completely understandable why someone who didn’t know this would draw such a conclusion,” he said.
supernatural perception
Kirkpatrick criticized the tendency to leap to supernatural explanations for unknown objects. According to him, the US government spends a lot of time and effort in developing advanced technology for various reasons.
“Some of it is that people have observed things or seen things or had access to things they shouldn’t have – that they don’t understand. And just because they don’t understand it, they start making the jump to ‘it must be supernatural,'” he added.
