When we join Udit Narayan he is in his element, as he has just finished performing for the grand pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
“This is the pre-wedding of the son of the country’s biggest, richest person Mukesh Ambani ji. I performed on Sunday, it was a 20 minute performance. Pritam Chakraborty ji (music composer) coordinated us with the musicians. There were many others apart from me, I also got a chance for the first time,” he says in his trademark avatar.
The 68-year-old shares that he had prepared a set of five of his most iconic songs for the occasion. “First Nasha, Main Yahaan Hoon, Udd Jaa Kaale Kawaan, Chand Chhupa Baadal Mein and Jaadu Teri Nazar. Despite arriving on Saturday itself, Narayan could not enjoy the festivities much till night. “I had a charter flight early in the morning on Saturday, so I couldn’t sleep the night before. After reaching Jamnagar, I took some rest and did a small rehearsal,” he said. From Shah Rukh Khan to Bill Gates, the three-day long festival was full of grandeur, with a large number of people in attendance. The singer says loudly, “If there were so many people, the atmosphere must be good.” I have also got a chance. Anant Ambani ji loves us very much, I have heard.”
