Hyderabad. Hyderabad is world famous for its tall buildings, cultural heritage and historical heritage. There are some buildings in this city which have been identified. One of these is about 120 years old historical mosque known as the Spanish Mosque. It is also known as Masjid Iqbal Ud Daula or Jam-e-Masjid Avan-e-Begumpet. This mosque is among the major heritage of Hyderabad.
Local resident Moinuddin Khan said in a conversation with Local 18 that the design of this mosque is in Murish style, which is not seen anywhere else in India. That is why it is also called the mosque of the Moles. The construction of the mosque started on the orders of Iqbal Ud Daula during the reign of Nizam Mir Mehboob Ali Khan. It was completed by his elder son Nawab Sultan ul Mulk Bahadur in the year 1902. It is still standing as a beautiful heritage.
Why Spanish Mosque is called
Moinuddin Khan said that the design of this mosque is inspired by the Cathedral-Mosque in Cordoba, Spain. The verses of the Quran are carved on its walls. The most important thing is that the minarets of this mosque look like a church in place of traditional round domes. This is the reason that those who see it often call it similar to the church.

This mosque is located in the Indian airline colony, lane number 2 in Begumpet region of Hyderabad. It is near Begumpet Airport and is located about 6 kilometers from Secunderabad railway station. This place can be easily reached and this mosque is still known for its historical and cultural importance.
