There are many things that Robert F. Kennedy Junior falls dishonestly by the US Health Secretary and his vocal supporters. One who really bothers them, and some welding affects, seed oil. In their saying, oils are “toxic” and can ruin your health. Now some American fast-food chains have swap oil for other fat, such as beef tall or avocado oil, a more bounged option. Is the stuff as bad as they do?
Seed oil, usually called “vegetable oil” on the food label, is extracted from corn, rapeseed (canola), soybean, sunflower and other seeds. Critics are most concerned about two things. The first is that the harmful chemicals used in oil processing can end in the finished product. The second is omega -6 fatty acid oil content. This is a particular type of fat, the claims of opponents, the supporters are inflammatory and cause cancer, heart attack and obesity. Both matters, however, scientific evidence otherwise says.
It is true that manufacturers use chemicals such as hexans, a solvent that can cause an excess oil from the seed after pressing when the breath can irritate the airways and cause lightness. But oil is filtered and hexans and various other molecules are heated to evaporate which can give it a strong taste or make it stale. The result is the ideal kitchen staple: a cheap, long -lasting product with neutral taste. According to an assessment published by the federal government in April, the typical American, for any trace hexen level, any trace hexane that can live is “toxically insignificant”.
Nor is it clear that omega -6 fatty acids cause inflammation. One of the main concerns for seed -oil opponents is that linolic acid, the main omega -6 fat in seed oil, can turn into inflammatory compounds in the body. Thomas Sanders, a dietary fats specialist at King’s College London, says Linolic acid has broken into some anti -inflammatory compounds. This makes it difficult to work whether it is a supporter or is a holistic inflammatory.
This is better, then, to see the net effects of omega -6 fat consumption. In random tests, the consumption of increased participants of linolic acid had no effect on inflammatory markers in their body. There are also clear benefits: seed oils are high in healthy polyunsaturated fat, meaning that choosing them on saturated fat such as butter reduces cholesterol levels, which reduces the risk of heart attack.
Long -term observation studies reach uniformly assured conclusions. In Nature Medicine recently one saw 100,000 American health professionals. It was found that high diets in vegetable oils lived for a long time, lived healthy, whose diets were low in vegetable oils (and who may have replaced them with more unhealthy, saturated fat). A round -up of such corort studies, published by the World Health Organization in 2022, was found to have high intake of omega -6 fat was associated with low mortality.
In short, seed oils are unlikely to be damaged -in the world, they are probably good for you, especially if eaten in moderation and others, healthy fats such as omega -3S are found in fish and walnuts. The over-conscious is usually the result of a unhealthy diet, which is filled with fried or ultra-sensitive foods, which have a lot of other reasons to avoid. Spoon for a spoon, seed oil is much more healthy than some of the champion options by its critics, not at least butter, Lord and Beef Tong.
