Korba. The world’s first tribal Shaktipeeth is established near Budhwari market in Korba city of Chhattisgarh. This Shaktipeeth was inaugurated in 2011 and representatives of 36 castes out of 42 tribes of the state are actively involved here. This Shaktipeeth is not only preserving the tribal culture and traditions but has also become a place of worship for the gods and goddesses of various tribes.
The objective of Tribal Shaktipeeth is to propagate ancient traditions, customs and festivals. Along with this, it also works to preserve self-respect and glorious traditions. Recently, local18 talked to the Shaktipeeth official on the importance and beliefs of this Shaktipeeth.
Opportunity to learn and understand tradition
According to Nirmal Singh Raj, Vice President of Tribal Shaktipeeth, “36 tribal kings ruled Chhattisgarh. Shaktipeeths were established at various places in the society for the worship of ancestors and gods and goddesses. With time, worship methods changed. Keeping this change in mind, the tribal society resolved to worship their ancestors and deities by installing them at one place. This gives the new generation an opportunity to learn and understand our tradition.
There has been unity in the society
He further said that the achievement of this Shaktipeeth is that worshiping the gods and goddesses of different tribes at one place has brought unity in the society. 36 tribes living in Korba district gather in this Shaktipeeth and follow their culture.
active social assistance
Tribal Shaktipeeth is not only engaged in religious activities but it is also working in the fields of health and education. It is also active in providing assistance to the villagers coming from forest areas and is trying to provide help as per the needs of the members of the society.
Worship of Gods and Goddesses by Baiga
Ramesh Sirka, organization head of Adivasi Shaktipeeth, said, “Our method of worship is traditional, in which the deities are worshiped by the Baigas of the society instead of the priests. In line with the same tradition, here too rituals are performed by the Baigas so that We can wish for the prosperity of the society.
