The admiration was mutual – it was always a pleasure to meet him and learn from him. Earlier this year, we recorded a fun podcast together and a follow-up on the trip Shared a profound panel discussion. We have not only lost a legend and pioneer of the travel community, but I have also lost a friend who I greatly admired and was inspired by.
Meanwhile, Indian mountaineer Arjun Vajpayee, who once dreamed of climbing a 6,000-meter peak in Himachal Pradesh, shared, “We all knew him as a high-energy person. For me, it means a lot because I rarely meet anyone who can match my energy. I have always remembered him as a true rebel. He would come to pick me up in his truck, which he would drive. He always had dreams. And more importantly, he never hesitated to share his vision or speak his mind, even if it was wrong at times. Anunay reminded us all to live it to the fullest, to dream big and to dare to achieve it.
On the other hand, travel influencer, Larisa DSA, who has known him for a few years, recalled his trip to Finland with fondness. “It was during an ice drive event, where we were drifting across a frozen lake in our car,” he said. She also says that he was always the person who helped her. “Our relationship was like that of two colleagues in the same industry, yet I really think his attitude and lifestyle influenced me in many ways. The mischief in his eyes and his special laugh are things I will never forget.”
