Bollywood singer and musician Sachin Sanghvi, best known as half of the Sachin-Jigar duo, has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman after promising her a role in a music album and marriage, police said on Friday. The arrest took place on Thursday, October 23, under relevant sections of the IPC.

According to news agency PTI, the complainant, who is in her 20s, said that it was Sachin who initiated contact with her in February last year. Sachin sent him a message on Instagram.
Sachin contacted him and promised to work in his upcoming music album. A police officer said that after this both of them exchanged phone numbers.
After this, Sachin called the complainant to his music studio, where he proposed marriage. Sachin also sexually harassed her many times.
What answer did Sachin’s lawyer give?
Advocate Aditya Mithe, representing the music director, has denied the allegations made by the complainant. Speaking to the press, Meethe said, “The allegations made in the FIR against my client are absolutely baseless and unproven. There is no merit in the case at all.”
He said, “My client’s detention by the police was illegal, and that is why he was immediately released on bail. We intend to fully and vigorously defend ourselves against all charges.”
Sachin has not yet given any statement on this matter. His official Instagram account named @soulfulsachin has been deactivated. Jigar has also not issued any statement on this matter.
Sachin’s latest work with Jigar included composing the music for the Diwali release Thamma, starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles. Sachin-Jigar’s composition for Stree 2, Aaj Ki Raat, was a big sensation last year.
