Despite the preparation of the exam completely, the results are sometimes reduced by expectations. Entry tests such as Cuet can be particularly disabled, where even minor mistakes can reduce significant efforts. This often questions students on their next stages. The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has reduced this concern by launching a new admission policy. For vacant seats in UG and PG courses, BHU will now consider both CUET score and educational qualification, including 12th or graduate points.
This decision benefits students who have not found a well location in CUET, but they have strong academic records. UGC emphasizes that vacant seats are harmful to both university and students. With the preparation of classes and resources, it is irrational to remain irrational for seats. Therefore, BHU and other universities now have the option to accept students on merit basis.
The vacant seats in BHU will be filled according to merit, which means that if the seats for any course are not filled through the CUET score, the university can directly accept students based on their 12th or graduate marks.
According to reports, thousands of seats are still vacant in various courses in BHU.
PG Courses: Out of about 10,000 seats, about 1,200 seats are vacant.
UG Course: Out of 9,200 seats, a significant number of seats are still vacant.
The UGC says that vacating such seats is a waste of resources, so they have to be filled at all costs.
UGC Secretary Manish R. Joshi has said that future admissions will require CUET scores, but this year, vacant seats can be filled on merit basis. This provides relief for students, as they do not need to worry about the CUET score this year. With vacant seats in BHU, there is an opportunity to enter.
Even if students do not perform well in CUET, they can still study in a reputed institute like BHU if they have a solid academic record. This new policy provides hope to those who have been denied expensive coaching and long entrance exams, protect them from ruining the whole year.
