If the beautiful places in Ladakh have been on your travel list for a while, take this as a sign! And while you’re at it, consider this airtight “offbeat” Ladakh itinerary curated by travel influencer duo Shreyasi and Karthik, who go by the handle @passportsandtrails on Instagram.
7 days in rustic paradise
This seven-day itinerary traces a slow, customized route into Ladakh through the Zanskar region. Start the first day by driving from Manali to Jispa, using the night to acclimatise yourself and reduce the risk of acute mountain sickness. On the second day, start early and cross the Shinkula Pass on the way to Gombo Rangjon. You can camp for the night here, which offers excellent stargazing, or proceed towards Purna. The third day is devoted to a walk from Purne to Phugtal Monastery, a 2,500-year-old structure dramatically set into a cliff above the Zanskar River, reached via a scenic path that runs along the river. On the fourth day, drive to Padum and explore nearby sites like Karsha Monastery, Dzongkhul Monastery and Zangla Fort. Day five takes you to Kargil via Pensi La, with views of the Drung Drung Glacier and Suru Valley; Overnight stay at Rangdum is also an option. On day six, visit Hunderman village near the Line of Control for viewpoint and local interaction. On the last day, proceed towards Leh before returning to Manali, allowing time to explore Leh for a longer journey.
Will you be visiting the Land of High Passes any time soon?
