The beautiful mountains, waterfalls, rivers and long trekking routes here are very much liked by the tourists, for which tourists keep coming here from time to time. One of those beautiful tracks is Saptakund Track, which is situated at an altitude of 5 thousand meters above sea level. After crossing this track, tourists get a chance to see 7 ponds present in the lap of nature simultaneously.

There is Jhinjhi village in Nijmula valley of Joshimath in Chamoli district, from where Sapt Kund or group of seven ponds can be reached after covering a distance of 24 km. These ponds are situated at a distance of about half a kilometer from each other, which is no less than a paradise to behold. These seven locks are also called ‘Saptarishi’. To reach here one has to cross Asia’s most difficult walking track. However, Saptakund is a thrilling track for those who are fond of adventure tourism and mountain trekking.

One has to climb steeply for 7 kilometers
To reach Saptakund, road facility is available till Pagana village of Chamoli. From Pagana to Jhinjhi village one has to cover a distance of eight kilometers on foot. There is a 26 km walking track from Jhinjhi to Saptakund. There is a very steep climb up to the tin shed of the Forest Department, 7 km from Jhinjhi. After this, Gaunchal cave is at a distance of 10 km. While on the one hand, the tourists like the open sky, beautiful bugyal and colorful flowers while traveling on the track, on the other hand, it is a beautiful treasure of nature for the nature lovers and photographers. Mohan Negi, a resident of Jhinjhi village, says that when the trekkers reach here, they see all types of trees like oak, buransh, deodar, kail, khoru, bhoj etc. during trekking, seeing which the tourists seem very happy.

Six pools have cold water and one has hot water.
Manish Negi, manager of Devbhoomi Adventure and Trekking and the youth who organizes Saptakund trekking, says that out of the 7 lakes present in Saptakund, 6 lakes have very cold water, while the water in one lake is very hot. After taking bath here, all the fatigue of the body goes away. The names of seven kunds are Parvati Kund, Ganesh Kund, Shiv Kund, Narad Kund, Nandi Kund, Bhairav ​​Kund, Shakti Kund. To reach Saptakund, one has to cross Asia’s most difficult walking track and that is why it is no less than a paradise for trekking lovers.
