New Delhi. Want to buy a VIP number plate? So be ready to spend more money. The Maharashtra government has increased the fee for VIP number plates. The government has increased the fee for issuing 240 VIP numbers along with the most popular number ‘0001’. The fee for many VIP numbers has been increased by lakhs of rupees.
Under this, now Rs 6 lakh will have to be paid for the most popular ‘0001’ number for four-wheelers in high demand areas like Mumbai, Pune and other cities. According to the notification of the Transport Department dated August 30, the fee for VIP number plates in two-wheelers, four-wheelers and other vehicles has been increased. It varies according to different areas of Maharashtra.
How much did the fees for VIP numbers increase
In Mumbai, Pune and other metro cities of Maharashtra, people will have to pay Rs 6 lakh for the number ‘0001’. On the other hand, for getting an out-of-series VIP number plate in these cities, one may have to pay up to Rs 18 lakh. The price of the number plate has been increased for the first time since 2013. If the vehicle has more than four wheels, then you will have to pay Rs 6 lakh for its VIP number.
Fees increased for two-wheelers too
Let us tell you that the fee for VIP number plates on two-wheelers like bikes and scooters has also been increased. The fee for two-wheelers and three-wheelers in Mumbai, Mumbai suburban, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Nashik has been increased from the existing Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
The revised ‘three times basic fee’ has gone up to Rs 15 lakh for four-wheelers and Rs 3 lakh for two-wheelers and three-wheelers, if ‘0001’ number is not available in the current series for that particular type of vehicle. The price of out-of-series VIP numbers in Mumbai and Pune has gone up from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh.
Apart from this, the state government has allowed the transfer of VIP numbers to immediate family members including spouse, sons and daughters.
